Dear Prospective Doctor of Divinity Degree Candidate:

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

The prestigious Doctor of Divinity Degree is awarded to the most deserving Pastors, Evangelists, Missionaries and Christian Leaders.

Due to the overwhelming interest in this honor and the limited number of awards which can be presented each year, potential candidates are recommended primarily from previous recipients of the honor and from the Board of Trustees and Regents of the University.  However, if you believe that someone you know is deserving of this honor, you may recommend him/her.  Selections are made in November each year.  Only 3 candidates are selected for each graduation period.  (Candidates who have already received an honorary degree or an earn doctoral level degree from another institute will probably not be considered for nomination.)

Requirements to receive the honor are as follows:

  1. You must be an ordained minister of the Gospel.
  2. You must submit a letter of recommendation from two ordained ministers or Christian Leaders who have known you for at least two years.
  3. You must have been in ministry a minimum of 5 years.
  4. You must submit a complete resume of ministry experience and academic experiences and awards.
  5. Your name must be submitted by Board of Trustee, Faculty, or Alumni of Promise Christian University, College and Seminary.

If you are approved as a candidate to receive this wonderful honor you will be notified by letter or phone call.  There is no fee charged for this honor except a graduation fee of $150.  Students are responsible for their cap and gown and other graduation expenses.  Students candidates and his or her ministries have generally made a generous contribution to the school's missions fund in support of conferences for Pastors of smaller churches, scholarships for pastors in developing nations, and support of the school's educational outreach in Africa, the Philippines and India.

Upon approval, you can request a special service to be held at your church. Transportation and accommodations for two representatives would be the expense of the host organization/church. You can plan to attend our annual graduation service held in August in California or simply request that the degree be sent to your home.

Each semester, Promise CU is authorized to recommend three candidates for this prestigious degree from any of the following vocations: Pastor, Evangelist, Christian Educator, Christian Leader, Missionary.

Please send your application and the above required documentation to Promise Christian University and College.

All approved candidates will receive written notice in the mail or a personal phone call.  Deadlines for consideration:  November 1

Sincerely,

Michael T. McKinney
